Following graduation from University, my first job in London and then a dramatic change of career in 2011 I had little time to look after myself and stay in shape. Training as a secondary school teacher had meant that my evenings were limited to planning and marking and not much else. Then, at the start of 2013 I made a decision to loose weight and not just a couple of pounds – my aim was for 42! And I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.
I had been a member at Broadstone Gym since I moved back to the area but I seldom used it with any regularity. It was my boyfriend that introduced me to Sean, having had success with him in the gym himself and he told me about his boot camp and suggested that I gave it a try.
My biggest excuse for not exercising had been time or rather lack of it, so having early morning sessions was the answer, even though I am not a morning person. I turned up to my first session and it was great! For the rest of the day I was buzzing and full of energy. The following morning however, was painful but I told myself – “no pain, no gain”
Throughout the 10 weeks every session that I attended was different – from weights and cardio to a good old fashion 80’s step class, we did it all. Sean’s enthusiasm was contagious and even if we were tired and thought we couldn’t go on he helped us to dig deep and keep going.
Along with the boot camp, Sean gave me a range of great workouts that I could use in the gym with confidence and a diet plan that was easy to follow and stick to that I was able to fit around my hectic lifestyle.
When I stepped onto the scales on January, I weighed 12st 2 – to my horror. When the new school term rolled round in September, I weighed in at 10st 8. I had lost 22lbs and on my 25th birthday I went out and brought my first ever pair of size 10 jeans.
I’ve still got a long way to go until I hit my personal goal but thanks to Sean I am well on my way to achieving it.
